Heather Walker-Leahy is a lifelong athlete who graduated from Marymount University in 2009. Soon after graduating she wanted to explore a new recreation and decided to take a Muay Thai class at Capital MMA. Heather’s competitive nature took ahold and she competed in exhibition smokers, amateur Muay Thai fights, and in 2015 transitioned to amateur MMA. Heather dominated the local mixed martial arts fight scene, and progressed to professional shows. Heather boasts an undefeated amateur and professional record, and is currently preparing for Shogun Fights XXII at the MGM National Harbor on July 13th, 2019.

Heather’s preparation and grit towards training and fighting is profound. She is constantly working to attack her weakness, and takes pleasure in drilling even the most mundane of details. Heather epitomizes Bruce Lee’s famous quote:

I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.

Heather also relies on her strong network of positive interpersonal relationships to continue to develop her capacity to be tough. In Episode 4: The Fighter’s Spirit of the Fight Philosophy Podcast Heather says,

If you hit me in the face or you score something very cleanly I’m going to bite down on my mouthguard and I’m gonna come after you.
